Kenya Protests: At least 39 dead and more than 350 injured

At least 39 people died and more than 350 were injured during anti-government protests in Kenya, according to the country’s national human rights commission. “According to our data, thirty-nine people were killed and 361 more were injured during protests across the country,” it said, adding that thirty-two people are missing and 627 were detained. Kenyan President William Ruto said earlier that that the protests had claimed 19 lives. However, Human Rights Watch reported 31 fatalities in the capital city alone. “The commission continues to strongly condemn the unjustified violence against the protesters, medical personnel, lawyers, journalists, churches, first-aid centers and ambulances,” it said. Budget 2024-2025: Past mistakes haunt Parliament

The Parliament of Uganda has been recalled from their break to reconsider the 2024/2025 financial year budget. It is the first time since the passing Budget Act and the Public Finance Act 2015 that the Parliament of Uganda reconvenes to consider a budget already endorsed by the legislatures. Members Of Parliament were recalled from recess to have a send look at the budget after President Museveni refused to sign the Appropriations Bill. Former RCC Burora has been arrested for “critiquing Speaker Among”

KAMPALA. Former RCC for Rubaga Division Herbert Anderson Burora bas been taken into custody allegedly collowing his outspoken criticisms and accusations of corruption directed at the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among. He was arrested and taken into custody by Ntinda Police on Monday night and is being detained at Kira police.station in Wakiso. Burora had grown more vocal in his criticism of the Speaker and Parliament until being fired by the President's office earlier this year. In a number of caustic letters and public remarks, he accused the Speaker of different sorts of corruption and misappropriation of public monies. Ugandan, Kenyan flags fly high at London Pride 2024

Ugandans and Kenyans joined thousands of people who lined the streets of London for the capital’s 52nd Pride event. An estimated 32,000, including more than 500 LGBTQ+ groups, flocked to Hyde Park Corner to watch or join in the parade on Saturday (29 June). Weaving through the capital, the parade marched down Whitehall before celebrations began at various locations. Headliners included singer Bebe Rexha, Drag Race winner Ginger Johnson, and RuPaul's DragCon stars Drag Syndrome in Trafalgar Square.
