Brig Isoke hosts UK Anti-Corruption, Shares Strategies

KAMPALA. As part of Anti-Corruption week efforts, Brig Gen Henry Isoke of State House Anti-Corruption Unit hosted UK consultant Nicholas Rowell. Rowell's presentation focused on stopping the supply side of corruption through implementing strong internal controls and compliance programs in both public and private institutions. Rowell stressed the importance of enacting laws mandating anti-corruption measures and policies to prevent corrupt practices. He highlighted the significance of regularly updating internal controls, monitoring transactions, and conducting random audits to eliminate corruption effectively. Identifying red flags and addressing them promptly was also emphasized as vital in combating corruption. Tailoring compliance needs according to the size and corruption risks of different institutions is essential, Rowell noted. Last Sunday was a day never to forget for visitors and parents who thronged Bagimu Pre and Primary School in Wakiso for the end of year concert. Pupils took to the stage with richly informative, educative and entertaining items such as creative dances, singing, poems, drama, news reading and parliamentary session. Fort Portal City Officials Face Corruption Charges after SH-ACU Op

FORTPORTAL: Three Fort Portal City officials - Kagaba Richard Ndora, Kyomuhendo Susan, and Ben Mutooro Musinguzi - have been brought before the Anti-corruption Court by a joint effort from the State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), CID, and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The charges they face revolve around allegations of Abuse of Office stemming from their involvement in a scandal surrounding unauthorized appointments. It is reported that between November 2022 and July 2023, the accused officials abused their authority by improperly issuing appointment letters to 23 individuals without the necessary clearance from the Public Service.
