Museveni commends Among for innovation amid corruption allegations against Speaker

Museveni fires army commander, replaces him with son

President Yoweri Museveni has fired long-trusted Chief of Defense Forces Wilson Mbadi, replacing him with son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Museveni also named Samuel Okiding as Muhoozi's deputy in changes that have come shortly after expanding the mandate of the army commander. Museveni appoints Muhoozi mobilisers ministers, fires mabaati thieves

President Yoweri Museveni has made a few changes in cabinet, appointing two of his son's chief mobilisers as ministers. Balaam Barugahare and Lillian Aber who have been key figures in the Patriotic League of Uganda pressure group of Muhoozi Kainerugaba have been appointed state ministers. In other changes, Museveni dropped the two ministers for Karamoja - Goreti Kitutu and Agnes Nanduttu after being accused of stealing iron sheets. Below is the full Cabinet list:

Boda-riding gunmen kill forex bureau guard, arrested by police

KAMPALA: The police in Kampala have arrested three gunmen who shot and killed a guard at a forex bureau in Kabusu, Rubaga Division. NUP rebel MPs defy Bobi, refuse to attend urgent meeting

At least 18 MPs who scribe to the National Unity Platform (NUP) did not turn out for the Tuesday meeting, sending mixed signals to a party already engulfed in controversies. Party president Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) convened the meeting to lambast the legislators on matters of corruption in the House only for 18 to turn down the invites. Tourism bosses, UPDF clash over ADF announcements

Key players in the tourism industry have expressed over the recent announcement by the military about the infiltration of ADF rebels into the country. The tourism officials say the communication by the army was bad for business as it kept foreign travellers away from the country. The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has thus requested for Shs5b to engage international media in order to counter the threat posed to Uganda's tourism sector, following the pronouncement by UPDF that the ADF rebels had infiltrated into Uganda, with an intention to carry out revenge attacks. MPs grill Entebbe Zoo bosses over sh10b lions’ share

KAMPALA: Members of Parliament on the Tourism Committee have tasked officials from Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) with providing a breakdown for the Shs10b requested for lion breeding. Court sets date for trial of Katanga murder case

High Court Criminal Division Judge Isaac Muwata has set July 2nd, 2024, as the trial commencement date for businesswoman Molly Katanga and her two daughters, accused of the murder of businessman Henry Katanga.  The decision follows a planning meeting involving the judge, Katanga’s legal team, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). According to the prosecution, Henry Katanga was fatally shot by his wife, Molly, on November 2nd, 2023, at their residence in Kampala.  The prosecution alleges Molly’s daughters tampered with crucial evidence, and two others are charged as accessories after the murder.
