True Care Junior School Urges govt Support

WAKISO. The Headteacher of True Care Junior School, Ssalongo James Byuma, has urged local leaders to consider contributing back to educational institutions in recognition of the significant tax payments schools make. Byuma emphasized that despite schools' substantial tax contributions, they often do not receive any acknowledgment or support in return. Bagimu pupils wow parents with specials skills as year closes

Last Sunday was a day never to forget for visitors and parents who thronged Bagimu Pre and Primary School in Wakiso for the end of year concert. Pupils took to the stage with richly informative, educative and entertaining items such as creative dances, singing, poems, drama, news reading and parliamentary session. For the parents and other guests smiling from ear to ear and ululating with joy was a constant feature from morning to evening. Breaking News: Kampala Parents School teachers strike as Sudhir fails to pay them

Teachers of City Mogul Sudhir Ruparellia’s Kampala Parents School have gone on strike over non-payment of salaries. The teachers also want their salaries matched with those of their Indian counterparts who reportedly earn more than Sh3m compared to less than Sh600,000 earned by Ugandan teachers. “We cannot accept this kind of discrimination. Even the food we eat is cheap compared to that of the Indian teachers,” one of the teachers shouted. “In fact the food they are giving us is very poor yet the parents keep on paying. Can you Imagine in a Sudhir school, a teacher getting Sh200,000?” another shouted. “Wabula Omuyindi asigala Muyindi...why is Sudhir not paying Kampala Parents teachers?? NRM bosses dominate LDC graduation list

Several National Resistance Movement (NRM) top bosses have dominated today’s graduation list at the Law Development Centre having completed the bar course. The list shared by the academic registrar at the LDC, Stephanie Lukwanzi, indicates that NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja-Nsereko and Kampala Resident City Commissioner Hudu Hussein will be among the graduands. Ministry closes two medical schools in Luwero over expired licences, extortion

The Ministry of Education and Sports has closed two health training schools in Luwero over expired licences. St. Denison Health Training School and Luweero School of Clinical Officers were closed with immediate effect. This was done after the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports suspended their licenses until further guidance is given. The Ministry's action followed investigations by the Anti-Corruption Unit of State House and Luwero Police that revealed among others that the schools' provisional licenses expired in 2013 and 2017, respectively, and had not been renewed to date. The schools were also involved in admission of non-qualifying students who are extorted in the process and issuance of fake academic papers.

KCCA land board boss Balondemu rearrested over allegedly defrauding Shs2.2bn from Americans

KAMPALA.The Kampala District Land Board Chairperson David Balondemu has been rearrested, a statement from the anti corruption union said on Friday evening. "It's allegedly that KG Unlimited LLC, an American Company, was defrauded Ugx 2.2Bn in a purported procurement of a water plant by Ministry of Agriculture. The fraudsters purported that PPDA was conducting the procurement on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture. All the money was paid through an account of M/s Bloom Advocates. Balondemu is believed to be the proprietor of the law firm through proxies ," a State House statement said. Minister Lugoloobi stole Karamoja iron sheets – state witnesses tell court

Prosecution alleges that Lugoloobi, while at OPM stores in Namanve in Mukono district and at different places in Matugga, Wakiso district, and Ntejeru North Constituency in Kayunga district dealt with government property - that is 700 pre-painted iron sheets marked with 'Office of the Prime Minister'. According to the prosecution, the said iron sheets which were reportedly acquired as a result of loss of property, were obtained in two phases - with one involving 400 iron sheets between July 14, 2022, and February 2023, and another batch of 300 iron sheets obtained between February 1, 2023 and March 16, 2023. Pastor collapses to death during exorcism exercise in Nakasongola

BY URN. NAKASONGOLA. Police in Nakasongola district are investigating the sudden death of a pastor during an exorcism exercise. The deceased, pastor Daniel Naheirwe, 40, went to Wanjuki village in Lwabyata sub-county to perform a prayer and exorcise evil spirits from Jessica Kyohairwe's home. After praying and at her invitation, he attempted to remove what was believed to be fetishes. During the process of burning these items, he suddenly collapsed and died on the spot. The incident occurred around 9 am on Tuesday, throwing onlookers into a panic. Pastor Naheirwe had claimed to possess miraculous powers for removing evil spirits from people's homes, a practice he had been conducting for many years.
