Kadamas in trouble as BoU suspends operations of Pivot Payments company

Bank of Uganda has suspended operations of Pivot Payments, a company that deals in remittances of money from banks to wallet as well as between the Middle East and Uganda. In a Thursday communication, the central bank said the decision was taking after finding out that Pivot was "conducting business in a manner that is detrimental to the best interest on the public and endangers the stability of the financial system." BoU advised wallet holders at the company to verify their balances. Suspected land grabber on the run over illegal possession of gun

Wakiso-based property broker Kenneth Keeya is on police's wanted after reportedly trying to grab land using an illegal gun. Trouble started when Keeya together with another suspected land grabber only identified as Gaddafi descended on a disputed piece of wetland at Kalidubi in Makindye Ssabagabo and tried to grab it forcibly.Police was quick to swing into action, arresting Gaddafi while Keeya managed to escape. The East African Court of Justice (EACJ) has asked activist groups to file a written submission in an appeal seeking to overturn a ruling that sought to block the construction of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The regional court sitting in Arusha in November 2023 threw out a case in which activists including the African Centre for Energy Governance (AFIEGO) had filed against the pipeline project that is running between Uganda and Tanzania.
