Busia LC5 Chairperson Charged with Theft of UGX 30m Vehicle Parts

BUSIA. Busia District LC5 Chairperson Stephen Mugeni Wasike has been charged with alleged stealing motor vehicle parts valued at approximately UGX 30 million. He appeared before the Busia Chief Magistrate Court on May 2, 2025, and was remanded until May 8, 2025. According to the charge sheet, Wasike allegedly stole an engine and gearbox from a Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup truck, registration number UAK 827Z, belonging to the Busia District Local Government. The incident occurred on March 8, 2025, at the district's parking yard. The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Directorate and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, investigated and arraigned Wasike in court. Judge Mugambe sentenced to 6 years over slavery

By James Kabengwa Lydia Mugambe Ssali, an Ugandan lawyer and former High Court judge, has been sentenced to six years and 10 months for multiple modern slavery offenses in the United Kingdom. Mugambe was appointed as a High Court judge in Uganda in 2013 and served until 2020. She was later appointed as the Inspector General of Government (IGG) in September 2020. Mugambe also served as a judge at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. In August 2024, Mugambe was charged with conspiracy to facilitate a breach of UK immigration law, arrangement or facilitation of travel for exploitation, and requiring an individual to engage in forced labor. IGG Orders Interdiction of Lands Ministry Official Over Land Fraud Allegations

Beti Namisango Kamya, has directed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Dorcas Okalany, to interdict Commissioner for Land Registration, Baker Mugaino, over allegations of fraud. The directive, issued on April 25, 2025, aims to facilitate investigations into Mugaino's activities. Mugaino is accused of canceling genuine land titles and replacing them with fake special titles, arbitrarily canceling caveats, and facilitating the formation of double or multiple certificates of land titles on a single piece of land. State House Anti-Corruption Unit Cracks Down on Land Fraud

KAMPALA. The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, led by Brig.
