Brig Isoke hosts UK Anti-Corruption, Shares Strategies

KAMPALA. As part of Anti-Corruption week efforts, Brig Gen Henry Isoke of State House Anti-Corruption Unit hosted UK consultant Nicholas Rowell. Rowell's presentation focused on stopping the supply side of corruption through implementing strong internal controls and compliance programs in both public and private institutions. Rowell stressed the importance of enacting laws mandating anti-corruption measures and policies to prevent corrupt practices. He highlighted the significance of regularly updating internal controls, monitoring transactions, and conducting random audits to eliminate corruption effectively. Identifying red flags and addressing them promptly was also emphasized as vital in combating corruption. Anti-Corruption Efforts Intensify

Akello Lilly Rose, for a joint inspection and Community Engagement meeting in Greater Masaka District and City on November 23, 2024. SH-ACU led op sees officials charged, remanded for misuse of PDM funds,

BUDUDA: Today, a joint operation involving the State House Anti corruption Unit (SH-ACU) and other agencies has resulted in the arraignment of two suspects, Wakoko Kassim and Nakhaima Francis, at the Bududa Chief Magistrates Court. Wakoko Kasim, the Parish Chief Bunandutu, faces charges of obtaining money by false pretences. He allegedly deceived several Bunandutu PDM SACCO members, fraudulently acquiring large sums under the guise of processing their funds. Nakhaima Francis, an employee of public service, stands accused of falsifying documents related to Bumakita PDM SACCO funds. Alongside accomplices still at large, they submitted erroneous returns and registered non-beneficiaries into the system. Both suspects have been remanded until 5th November 2024 while investigations continue. This development highlights ongoing efforts to combat financial misconduct and uphold integrity in fund management practices.

Battleline drawn as Bobi Wine fires Mpuuga from NUP leadership

The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine), has suspended Mathias Mpuuga from the party structures over allegations of corruption. A Thursday letter by Bobi Wine said Mpuuga was sacked as vice president in charge of the central region with immediate effect. Mpuuga's trouble arises from a meeting at Parliament in which leaders awarded themselves sh1.7b as service award. Mpuuga who attended the same meeting received sh500m. The now Parliamentary Commissioner has defended the plot, saying everything was done legally. Mpuuga recently called a press conference and said no one could fire him from NUP as he was one of the founding members. Below is Bobi's full letter.

New minister Balam returns to Brother Ronnie church to thank God

No one can fire me from NUP – Mpuuga

National Unity Platform Vice President for Buganda region Mathias Mpuuga has said he is not about to leave the party he helped found even though some people are fighting him internally. In a Tuesday press conference Mpuuga said there's a group of people trying to to hound him out of NUP but his commitment is still strong. He insisted there was no indiscipline in receiving the sh500m from Parliament because it was both legal and morally right. The Parliamentary Commissioner said NUP was fighting for crumbs as President Yoweri Museveni makes strategies to deepen his strength. NUP rebel MPs defy Bobi, refuse to attend urgent meeting

At least 18 MPs who scribe to the National Unity Platform (NUP) did not turn out for the Tuesday meeting, sending mixed signals to a party already engulfed in controversies.
