Uganda Olympic Committee President Donald Rukare confirmed the marathoner’s death on Thursday (5 September). “We have learnt of the sad passing of our Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei… following a vicious attack by her boyfriend,” he posted on social media platform X. Video: Bobi Wine shot by Uganda police

KAMPALA.Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine has been injured in the leg in a confrontation with a policeman, but his party says he is recovering in hospital.  The National Unity Platform (NUP) said the pop star-turned-politician had been hit by a tear-gas canister - initially it was thought his wound was caused by a bullet. KAMPALA: St. Peter Nsambya Secondary School's Head Teacher, Remigius Mubiru Mungere, is facing heat over allegations of age falsification and abuse of office following an extended tenure. Reports suggest that Mr. Mungere was expected to retire in September 2023 but allegedly altered his age to remain in his position for additional years. Concerns have been raised by insiders about the need for an investigation by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to address these issues promptly. Among other accusations also is misuse of school resources, nepotism in employment practices, and mishandling of funds collected for construction purposes. Despite attempts to reach out for comment, Mr. Mungere has not responded to inquiries.

KAMPALA - Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the prime suspect in the murder of former Ndiga Clan leader Eng. Daniel Bbosa, has confessed to the crime, revealing three motives behind his actions. Former AG Kiddhu Makubuya 75, dies

KAMPALA. Shortly after the passing of media personality Joseph Tamale Mirundi, who was laid to rest in Rakai district, unfortunate news has emerged that former Attorney General and Minister, Prof Kiddu Makubuya, has also passed away at the age of 74. His daughter, Rebecca Nabagala, has confirmed his death, although specific details are currently limited. Earlier this year, there were false reports of his demise on Martyrs' Day, but it was later clarified that he was critically ill and hospitalized at Nakasero hospital. Canada tells Amb. Acheng to leave after NUP confrontation

Canada has told Uganda’s ambassador there, Joy Acheng, to leave following reports of uncouth behaviour. Govt lawyer sent to Luzira over shs100m bribe

A state attorney attached to the justice ministry has been charged with 16 counts of corruption after he allegedly solicited for a shs100m bribe. The Anti-Corruption Unit of State House worked with CID and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to pin Sam Tusubira before arraigning him in court on Tuesday. “The accused while representing government in court, solicited for a bribe of UGX100M from a plaintiff who had sued the Ministry of Lands and the Attorney General for irregular cancellation of his title, in order to assist the victim get compensated,” the unit stated. “By time of his arrest he had received about UGX43M from the victim.
