Gen Dick Olum replaced as Operation Shujaa commander

President Yoweri Museveni has made changes in the Uganda People's Defense Forces, replacing Operation Shujaa commander Maj Gen Dick Olum with Maj Gen Richard Otto. Col. Deo Akiiki, the army spokesperson, confirmed the developments. "H:E the president has appointed Maj Gen Richard Otto the New Commander of Mountain Division and therefore Comdr Operation Shuuja, Maj. Gen. Dick Olum heads to South Sudan Stabilisation Mechanism where Maj. Gen. Otto has been representing Uganda," Akiiki said. "We congratulate the two Generals upon their new assignments and wish them good luck." The changes come hardly a week the Chief of Defense Forces held a meeting with UPDF leaders together Congolese counterparts in the DRC. However, the details of the meeting remain unknown to the public.

Exclusive: Kabaka Mutebi seen in Namibia park

KAMPALA. The first photo of Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has surfaced after a prolonged absence from public view. The photo copied from private social media users and shared by Mengo spokesperson Israel Kazibwe, depicts the Kabaka seated alongside a gentleman identified by a Facebook page-Agfa mu Lubiri as Ambassador Ndawula with the latter holding the Kabaka's arm.  The background suggests a remote, forested area which according to Mr. Kazibwe is a "game facility" in Namibia. Speaker Among has houses in London, British ambassador tells Museveni

KAMPALA. The British High Commissioner in Uganda has told President Yoweri Museveni that Speaker Anita Among has houses in London.  On April 30, the United Kingdom announced its first-ever corruption-related sanctions against Uganda, targeting Ms Among, Ms Mary Goretti Kitutu, and Ms Agness Nandutu, both former ministers responsible for the restive mineral-rich Karamoja region. The sanctions consist of travel bans and asset freezes. Lawyer Balondemu petitions Minister Otafiire in Shs 15bn gold scam probe

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) has initiated inquiries into seven suspected cases of fraud related to land and gold scams against city lawyer and chairman of Kampala District Land Board, David Balondemu. These fraudulent activities purportedly occurred within three legal firms, including M/s Bloom Advocates, M/s Balondemu & Co. Advocates, and M/s Balon Advocates, all believed to be associated with Balondemu. At least 5000 clients stand to lose billions of shillings after Jomayi Property Consultants Ltd, previously Uganda’s leading real estate firm, has been forced into liquidation due to insolvency. The clients have for years demanded for their land titles purchased from various Jomayi estates in vain until their last hope was buried on Monday after a court decision to declare Jomayi insolvent following NC Bank's unsuccessful attempt to retrieve sh868,250,000 from Jomayi.
