Ugandan court rules harsh anti-gay law is constitutional

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023 is legal and will be upheld, save for four issues. The ruling came following a petition by a group of activists who wanted the law trashed. However court rules that only four sections in the law were illegal and should be repealed. MP Lematia, DSTV technician fight over randy woman

The MP for Ayivu West, John Lematia, has been involved in a fight with a top technician at DStv over a lover in Arua City. The police said the woman spent some time with her ex-boyfriend before joining the MP at a posh hotel. Among visits Mengo, splashes shs50m for Kabaka birthday run

Parliament Speaker Anita Among and Deputy Thomas Tayebwa today morning led a team of MPs to Mengo, where they contributed towards the Kabaka's birthday run. The visitors were received by Buganda premier Charles Peter Mayiga, who said Among was the first Speaker to visit Bulange for such a cause. The Legislators contributed shs50m for the upcoming run. Battleline drawn as Bobi Wine fires Mpuuga from NUP leadership

The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine), has suspended Mathias Mpuuga from the party structures over allegations of corruption. A Thursday letter by Bobi Wine said Mpuuga was sacked as vice president in charge of the central region with immediate effect. Mpuuga's trouble arises from a meeting at Parliament in which leaders awarded themselves sh1.7b as service award. Mpuuga who attended the same meeting received sh500m. The now Parliamentary Commissioner has defended the plot, saying everything was done legally. No one can fire me from NUP – Mpuuga

National Unity Platform Vice President for Buganda region Mathias Mpuuga has said he is not about to leave the party he helped found even though some people are fighting him internally. In a Tuesday press conference Mpuuga said there's a group of people trying to to hound him out of NUP but his commitment is still strong. He insisted there was no indiscipline in receiving the sh500m from Parliament because it was both legal and morally right. The Parliamentary Commissioner said NUP was fighting for crumbs as President Yoweri Museveni makes strategies to deepen his strength. Entebbe airport police seize 100kg of smuggled gold

Detectives at Entebbe International Airport have seized suspected smuggled gold to a tune of 99kg. Credible sources at the airport have revealed to this website that the incident happened last night and it is under investigation by Entebbe police criminal investigation Department. The suspected smuggled gold biscuits were packed in a big box currently believed to be kept at Entebbe police station pending further investigations. Museveni fires army commander, replaces him with son

Museveni appoints Muhoozi mobilisers ministers, fires mabaati thieves

President Yoweri Museveni has made a few changes in cabinet, appointing two of his son's chief mobilisers as ministers. Balaam Barugahare and Lillian Aber who have been key figures in the Patriotic League of Uganda pressure group of Muhoozi Kainerugaba have been appointed state ministers.
