Former Rakai District Service Commission Chairperson Sentenced for Corruption

KAMPALA. The Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Uganda has convicted and sentenced Mpuga David, the former Chairperson of the Rakai District Service Commission, to five years imprisonment or a fine of UGX 7.2 million.  Mpuga was found guilty of extorting and demanding bribes from job applicants in the district, specifically soliciting UGX 20 million from a candidate seeking the position of Agricultural Officer. Mpuga's corrupt activities were uncovered after numerous public complaints were directed to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rakai, highlighting his persistent demands for bribes associated with job vacancies.  The Brig. Lawyer Drake Twebaze remanded over shs1.9b fraud

Court yesterday remanded lawyer Drake Twebaze to Luzira Prisons over a case of fraud involving shs1.9b. According to the Anti-Corruption Unit of State House, Twebaze appeared before Buganda Road Magistrate's Court on various charges, including; obtaining money by false pretenses, conspiracy to defraud, and forgery. He was remanded until June 13, 2025. KAMPALA. Brigadier General Henry Isoke, Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), has emphasized the crucial role police investigators play in the fight against corruption. Addressing senior police officers from the Criminal Investigations, Professional Service, and Canine Units at the Uganda Police Training Facility in Kikandwa on Monday, Gen Isoke stressed that integrity among law enforcement officers is paramount. Busia LC5 Chairperson Charged with Theft of UGX 30m Vehicle Parts

BUSIA. Busia District LC5 Chairperson Stephen Mugeni Wasike has been charged with alleged stealing motor vehicle parts valued at approximately UGX 30 million. He appeared before the Busia Chief Magistrate Court on May 2, 2025, and was remanded until May 8, 2025. According to the charge sheet, Wasike allegedly stole an engine and gearbox from a Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup truck, registration number UAK 827Z, belonging to the Busia District Local Government. The incident occurred on March 8, 2025, at the district's parking yard. Court Remands Official Over SAGE Fund Theft

TORORO. Tororo District Court has remanded Asangai David, a Community Development Officer, until March 19, 2025, accused of theft of millions of shillings meant for the elderly and war recovery programs. He arraignment is the effort by the State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-A U), the Uganda Police and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. David faces charges of theft and conspiracy to commit a felony linked to the misappropriation of millions of shillings from the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) program, designed to support elderly citizens in Tororo and Busia districts. Four remanded over illegal occupation of Mpigi prime land

The Anti-Corruption Unit of State House working with police has netted four suspects who illegally occupied acres of land in Mpigi district. In a statement, the unit said: "Working with @CID1_UG, we have arraigned four suspects before the the Chief Magistrates Court, Mpigi on charges of Forcible Detainer after they forcefully took possession of land belonging to Lubega Charles Lwanga." "The 56 acres of land at Namwawula Mpigi were rightly bought by Lubega Charles from the rightful owners but, the suspects forged documents which they used to forcibly take possession of the said land by deploying private security guards," the unit added. The suspects have been remanded until May 8.

Magnum Security guards sent to Luzira over illegal deployment on disputed land

At least 11 guards of Magnum Security have been sent on remand for illegally protecting a disputed piece of land. The Anti-Corruption Unit of State House said in a statement Friday "11 personel of Magnum Security have been arraigned before the KCCA Chief Magistrates Court on Charges of Forcible Entry on Property."
