Museveni fires KCCA’s Kisaka, two others over Kiteezi garbage deaths

In a shocking move, President Yoweri Museveni has fired KCCA top bosses following the death of more than 30 people in the Kiteezi garbage slide. Kiteezi death toll jumps to 21, list out

The number of people killed in the Kiteezi garbage dump slide has jumped to 21, according to the latest police report. Patrick Onyango, KMP spokesperson on Sunday evening released a list of those killed in the Saturday fatal incident. Kiteezi updates: 18 confirmed dead as Museveni orders arrests

President Yoweri Museveni has ordered the arrest and prosecution of officials who allowed the ill-fated families to settle near the garbage dump site in Kiteezi, Wakiso district as the death toll hit 18. The tough talking Museveni stated on his social media handle on X, stated that, “The first question that comes to mind is: “Who allowed People to live near such a potentially hazardous and dangerous heap?” Even without peeling off and burying People, the effluent alone (ejyurigyiriro) must be hazardous to health.” He went on to direct the Deputy IGG and police boss to probe further how the people came to settle in such a dangerous place. Magnum Security guards sent to Luzira over illegal deployment on disputed land

At least 11 guards of Magnum Security have been sent on remand for illegally protecting a disputed piece of land. The Anti-Corruption Unit of State House said in a statement Friday "11 personel of Magnum Security have been arraigned before the KCCA Chief Magistrates Court on Charges of Forcible Entry on Property." "The accused took possession of the land belonging to the late Eng. Eliba Johnson in a violent matter yet there was a temporary injunction on the property," the unit said. They have been remanded until 20/03/2024.
