State House Anti-Corruption Unit Cracks Down on Land Fraud

KAMPALA. The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, led by Brig. Henry Isoke,  in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate of the Uganda Police Force and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, have uncovered a massive land fraud scheme involving the Ministry of Lands and local government officials. And following the investigation, the Acting Commissioner for Mapping and Surveys Kakooza Jasper and nine others, have been found to allegedly having created fraudulent land titles on property belonging to the Madhvani Group Ltd. Mukono Land Dealers Remanded Over Forced Land Acquisition

MUKONO. Two renowned land dealers in Mukono, Kityo Seruma Green Way Edward and Kazibwe Yusufu, have been arraigned before the Grade 1 Magistrates Court in Nakifuma on charges of forcible entry and conspiracy to commit an offense. The accused were brought to court this afternoon, April 9, 2025, by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working in conjunction with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). According to the charge sheet, between 2020 and 2023, the duo, along with others still at large, allegedly violently entered Kamundu Martin's land in Nakasajja Village, Kyampisi sub-county, Mukono district. RDC Majambere remanded over alleged theft

KAMPALA.  A joint operation involving multiple security agencies has apprehended Ivan Ssemakula, also known as Majambere, the Deputy Resident RDC of Rukiga, following accusations of land grabbing in Gomba district.  The collaboration between the Anti-Corruption Unit of Uganda, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions resulted in charges being brought against Majambere and his subsequent appearance in Gomba Magistrates' Court.  Majambere, alongside unidentified accomplices, stands accused of offenses such as Conspiracy to Defraud, Cattle Theft, and Criminal Trespass.  The case dates back to August 2023 when they forcibly took control of a 300-acre farmland in Gomba District registered under 75-year-old Frank Rushanganwa since 2003.   During the unlawful seizure, Majambere's group reportedly took 157 cows worth UGX 318 million, later disposing of them.  Allegedly, Majambere claimed partial ownership through a disputed transaction with Mwesigye, […]

SH-ACU operation nabs Masaka Land Dealer

MASAKA: The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) continues to achieve notable success in the battle against corruption as exemplified by the recent arrest of Kasirye Elias, a well-known land dealer and lender in Masaka. Mr Kasirye, notorious for unlawfully evicting individuals through deceptive court orders, was finally captured by the Brig Henry Isoke led SH-ACU investigators working alongside the Uganda police following a series of complaints regarding his illegal actions. Kasirye, primarily operating in Lukaya, faced legal consequences as he was brought before the Masaka chief Magistrate on October 28, 2024. He was charged with multiple offenses, including causing harm, forcible entry, illegal eviction, and theft. Ugandan MP escapes death in deadly land dispute.

A Ugandan Member of Parliament representing Buhweju survived death in a bitter land fight in which seven other people including a Vision Group reporter were injured. Accounts of the incident differ. According to Deo Atuhaire Omuhatizi, the LCV Chairperson of Buhweju District, Mwijukye was assaulted by a group of land usurpers in Rwanyamabare Nyakishana sub-county before being struck by stones and harmed. The altercation took place on Sunday, May 12, at Rwanyambale village. "Police have transported him for medical attention. Supporters of Honorable Mwijukye and the public are urged to remain calm as authorities pursue the perpetrators." Suspected land grabber on the run over illegal possession of gun

Wakiso-based property broker Kenneth Keeya is on police's wanted after reportedly trying to grab land using an illegal gun. Trouble started when Keeya together with another suspected land grabber only identified as Gaddafi descended on a disputed piece of wetland at Kalidubi in Makindye Ssabagabo and tried to grab it forcibly.Police was quick to swing into action, arresting Gaddafi while Keeya managed to escape.
