Kaggwa Njala suspended from NBS over Mpuuga money posts

KAMPALA. Simon Njala Kaggwa, a senior talk show host at NBS TV, has been suspended for 14 days for hosting Mathias Mpuuga's thanksgiving event in Masaka on June 21. According to reliable sources at Naguru, Kaggwa violated the media organization's ethical guidelines by being partisan. The news manager, Dalton Kaweesa, informed the editorial staff of Kaggwa's suspension during a meeting today, following a decision made in a senior management meeting chaired by Kin Kariisa. While Kaggwa attempted to deflect from his suspension by mentioning charity work on social media, the reality is that he is facing a 14-day suspension. Management believes that Kaggwa's social media activity leading up to Mpuuga's event crossed boundaries for someone in his position. A statement from management regarding Kaggwa's situation is expected to be released soon. Kaggwa, who has been with NBS since 2011 and […]

Bobi Wine powerless to sack me- Mpuuga

KAMPALA. The Member of Parliament for Nyendo – Mukungwe, Mathias Mpuuga has told off the National Unity (NuP) Principal Robert Kyagulanyi he is powerless to sack “me- and any pretence to be doing so is probably self- gratification". “It (suspension) was motivated by probably personal gratification and the need to show off power- which is very dangerous. It's inconsequential,” Mpuuga told Kaggwa Njala’s NBS morning breeze show on NBS TV on Thursday Morning. “If you appoint me, it's not a matter of magnanimity. It's because your power is clothed in the constitution. Where you do not have those powers to suspend, you cannot exercise them (and) suspending a deputy president, is at least not one of them,” Mpuuga said accusing Bobi Wine of acting without legal basis. He ruled out any form of reconciliation unless “individuals realise their mistake.” “It's up to them […]

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine has claimed Shs.500m paid to his deputy Mathias Mpuuga as "service fee" was a reward from Speaker Anita Among after the successful ouster of Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake as Parliament commissioner. In his third statement about the controversial money heist that is now understood to be well over Shs.1.7bn, Bobi Wine has insisted Mpuuga is “corrupt and immoral” and must resign to save the face of his party. Bobi alleges that he has credible information that on 6th May, 2022 Speaker Among convened a meeting in which Mpuuga attended and three other NRM commissioners and they shared Shs.1.7b. “Two months after Hon. Zaake was illegally removed from that position (commissioner), these leaders awarded themselves a collective amount of 1.7 billion shillings,” Bobi Wine says giving details;  Hon.
