We will kill NUP uniform wearers, says Muhoozi

Uganda’s Controversial Chief of defence forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has issued a chilling warning to all UP uniform wearers saying all will be killed. ”From now on, if we find ANYONE wearing a NUP uniform, we will kill them! No questions!” Muhoozi posted on his X handle on Saturday night. The threat, has escalated uneasiness among the opposition with already dozens of NUP supporters abducted and their whereabouts unknown. Kampala Lawyer Nalukoola Wins NUP Flag

KAMPALA. Lawyer Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi has been selected as the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for the Kawempe North by-election. He was officially declared the candidate on Tuesday by the NUP Election Management Committee at the party headquarters in Kavule, Makerere. Last week, Luyimbazi competed against nine other aspirants in a debate moderated by lawyer Andrew Karamaji and Dr. Judith Nalukwago. Canada tells Amb. Acheng to leave after NUP confrontation

Canada has told Uganda’s ambassador there, Joy Acheng, to leave following reports of uncouth behaviour. The ambassador was reportedly captured on video wearing yellow while in a verbal exchange with Ugandan opposition members who were protesting against bad governance on the streets of Canada.According to Canadian authorities, these actions reportedly breached diplomatic norms, prompting the decision to declare Acheng persona non-grata. New political party moves to upset NUP

KAMPALA. The emergence of a new political party, People Power Front (PPF), ahead of the 2026 general elections has caused concern among leaders of the National Unity Platform (NUP). PPF, which advocates for social justice, economic empowerment, and human rights, is seen as a potential threat to NUP's support base. The Uganda Electoral Commission has approved PPF after it met the necessary requirements for registration. Many members of PPF are reportedly from NUP and other opposition parties, as well as some from the ruling NRM party. Battleline drawn as Bobi Wine fires Mpuuga from NUP leadership

The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine), has suspended Mathias Mpuuga from the party structures over allegations of corruption. A Thursday letter by Bobi Wine said Mpuuga was sacked as vice president in charge of the central region with immediate effect. Mpuuga's trouble arises from a meeting at Parliament in which leaders awarded themselves sh1.7b as service award. Mpuuga who attended the same meeting received sh500m. The now Parliamentary Commissioner has defended the plot, saying everything was done legally. Mpuuga recently called a press conference and said no one could fire him from NUP as he was one of the founding members. Below is Bobi's full letter.

No one can fire me from NUP – Mpuuga

National Unity Platform Vice President for Buganda region Mathias Mpuuga has said he is not about to leave the party he helped found even though some people are fighting him internally. In a Tuesday press conference Mpuuga said there's a group of people trying to to hound him out of NUP but his commitment is still strong. He insisted there was no indiscipline in receiving the sh500m from Parliament because it was both legal and morally right. The Parliamentary Commissioner said NUP was fighting for crumbs as President Yoweri Museveni makes strategies to deepen his strength. NUP rebel MPs defy Bobi, refuse to attend urgent meeting

At least 18 MPs who scribe to the National Unity Platform (NUP) did not turn out for the Tuesday meeting, sending mixed signals to a party already engulfed in controversies.
