Tourism bosses, UPDF clash over ADF announcements

Key players in the tourism industry have expressed over the recent announcement by the military about the infiltration of ADF rebels into the country. The tourism officials say the communication by the army was bad for business as it kept foreign travellers away from the country. The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has thus requested for Shs5b to engage international media in order to counter the threat posed to Uganda's tourism sector, following the pronouncement by UPDF that the ADF rebels had infiltrated into Uganda, with an intention to carry out revenge attacks. I had grown wary of our mission and sought to understand the experience of similar missions elsewhere. That is how I came to read The Afghanistan Papers, an insightful book by Craig Whitlock. UPDF gunships devastate big ADF camp in DRC

KAMPALA: The Uganda People’s Defense Forces gunships have attacked a big camp of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), leaving it devastated. According to President Yoweri Museveni, the attack happened on Saturday at least 60km from Ntoroko inside DRC. “This is to inform you that today, the 21st of October, 2023, we paid a serious visit to the ADF terrorists in Congo. Our gunships attacked a big camp of these criminals, 60km from the border, Ntoroko side,” Museveni said. Ugandan military fighter jets hit three ADF targets in Congo

KAMPALA: Uganda's president Yoweri Museveni has said the country's military fighter jets hit three targets of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). A press statement from State House on Thursday said the air ride by the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) bombers was carried out on Wednesday. "Our fighter- bombers paid another visit to the terrorists, quite some distance inside Congo, in the Mambasa territory area. They attacked three targets, 180km, 184km and 200km, respectively, from the border on the Ntoroko side," Museveni said in the statement.
