Busia LCV Remanded Over Vehicle Dispute
BUSIA. Stephen Wasike Mugeni, the Chairperson of the Busia District Local Government (LCV), has been re-arrested and remanded to prison until June 16, 2025, following his appearance before the Chief Magistrates Court in Busia. The re-arrest was carried out by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Mugeni has been charged with wrongful confinement and threatening violence in connection to an incident that occurred on May 9, 2025. According to court submissions, the alleged incident took place at the Busia District Headquarters, where Mugeni is said to have been involved in a confrontation with Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Lubuuka David.
