Basajjabalaba’s KIU Ishaka on spot for detaining patient, carer

Kampala International Hospital (KIU) Teaching hospital has been accused of detaining a mentally-sick patient and a caregiver over unpaid bills worth shs600,000. According to the relatives of Barbara Nayebare, 25, who is mentally disturbed, she has been detained at hospital with minimal improvement. "At first we agreed that we pay shs500,000 and leave the patient at KIU. We paid shs300,000 and remained with balance of shs200,000," a brother of Nayebare said. "However after around a month when Nayebare's father, Charles Atukwase, took the balance to the hospital, they told him the Bill had grown by an extra shs600,000," the relative said. JUST IN: Muhoozi vows silence over Germany issues

KAMPALA: The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has vowed to keep mute on issues concerning Germany. Muhoozi who has been so vocal and accusing the Germany Ambassador to Uganda, Mathias Schauer, of engaging subversive activities. Muhoozi posted on X Monday, "Out of respect for my great uncle, Afande Saleh, I shall not mention Germany or bazungu again. I want to apologize to Afande Saleh if I disobeyed him in anyway. KAMPALA: Uganda could witness another scandal where top officials hand public jobs to relatives as thousands of Ugandans who applied for jobs at the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) this year being left in tears following a suspicious cancellation of scheduled interviews. A letter by the Minister for the Presidency, Babirye Milly Babalanda, to the commission halted the exercise with concerns over the commission’s restructuring process and the delay in implementing recommendations from the Uganda AIDS Commission’s review report. The March 25 letter addressed to Dr. Nelson Musoba, the Director General of UAC, Babalanda said she was disappointed with the slow progress in executing the recommendations outlined in the review report. Canada tells Amb. Acheng to leave after NUP confrontation

Canada has told Uganda’s ambassador there, Joy Acheng, to leave following reports of uncouth behaviour. Museveni passes out 298 counter-terrorism warriors

Kiteezi updates: 18 confirmed dead as Museveni orders arrests

President Yoweri Museveni has ordered the arrest and prosecution of officials who allowed the ill-fated families to settle near the garbage dump site in Kiteezi, Wakiso district as the death toll hit 18. Karamoja-based cement factory on spot as workers turn to flying toilets

KAMPALA: Workers at a cement factory in Moroto district are up in arms following alleged mistreatment by their bosses. Local media reported that workers at Sunbird factory which is owned by West International Holdings Limited that will soon start manufacturing clinker have complained of poor sanitation facilities. Reports claimed at least 50 Ugandan and Chinese workers have turned to easing themselves in the bushes due to lack of washroom facilities inside the estimated $300 million factory.
