Minister Nyamutoro survives in Kigezi gun attack

Four remanded over illegal occupation of Mpigi prime land

The Anti-Corruption Unit of State House working with police has netted four suspects who illegally occupied acres of land in Mpigi district. In a statement, the unit said: "Working with @CID1_UG, we have arraigned four suspects before the the Chief Magistrates Court, Mpigi on charges of Forcible Detainer after they forcefully took possession of land belonging to Lubega Charles Lwanga." "The 56 acres of land at Namwawula Mpigi were rightly bought by Lubega Charles from the rightful owners but, the suspects forged documents which they used to forcibly take possession of the said land by deploying private security guards," the unit added. The suspects have been remanded until May 8.

NRM bosses dominate LDC graduation list

Several National Resistance Movement (NRM) top bosses have dominated today’s graduation list at the Law Development Centre having completed the bar course. The list shared by the academic registrar at the LDC, Stephanie Lukwanzi, indicates that NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja-Nsereko and Kampala Resident City Commissioner Hudu Hussein will be among the graduands. Ugandan court rules harsh anti-gay law is constitutional

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023 is legal and will be upheld, save for four issues. The ruling came following a petition by a group of activists who wanted the law trashed. However court rules that only four sections in the law were illegal and should be repealed. Museveni fires army commander, replaces him with son

President Yoweri Museveni has fired long-trusted Chief of Defense Forces Wilson Mbadi, replacing him with son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Museveni appoints Muhoozi mobilisers ministers, fires mabaati thieves

President Yoweri Museveni has made a few changes in cabinet, appointing two of his son's chief mobilisers as ministers. Balaam Barugahare and Lillian Aber who have been key figures in the Patriotic League of Uganda pressure group of Muhoozi Kainerugaba have been appointed state ministers. Magnum Security guards sent to Luzira over illegal deployment on disputed land

At least 11 guards of Magnum Security have been sent on remand for illegally protecting a disputed piece of land. The Anti-Corruption Unit of State House said in a statement Friday "11 personel of Magnum Security have been arraigned before the KCCA Chief Magistrates Court on Charges of Forcible Entry on Property." "The accused took possession of the land belonging to the late Eng. Eliba Johnson in a violent matter yet there was a temporary injunction on the property," the unit said.
